Music at St Mary's

The Vicar has a particular interest in hymns, both traditional and modern, and we use a wide selection of hymnody month by month. The more who come to sing the better!

On occasion, we have welcomed local, national and international artists, either as part of the liturgy or simply using the church building as a concert venue.

It is a wonderful venue:

  • acoustically good
  • well placed within Bedfordshire
  • north-south rail station (Harlington)
  • our own motorway junction (M1 J12)
  • good road links all points of the compass
  • parking and toilets provided by Harlington Parish Council
  • an aesthetically pleasing environment of Grade I character.
  • cool in the summer and surprisingly warm in the winter
  • access and welcome for the disabled
  • soon to be floodlit

In the Pipeline:

  • The Hermitage Ensemble of St Petersburg, a small traditional Russian choir, have been invited back for another stunning devotional and folk sound experience.
  • “Former Organists’ Concert”. The faithful village organists who formerly struggled with the old instrument, are keen to join our current organist Pearl Everett to show off the new sounds and possibilities. A relaxed evening looking back with former friends.
  • Sunday 6th May 2007 International Dawn Chorus Day – watch this space for a lively musical treat.

January 2006 Sunday 29th Jan To mark Mozart’s 250th Birthday Celebrations, Pearl Everett plays the slow movement from his Piano Concerto No 21 in C K467 before the 10am Service.
